THE SPIRIT OF GIVING
Giving Tuesday was started in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y in New York City, in partnership with the United Nations Foundation, to encourage giving and generosity following the popular shopping events of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Over the years, the day has gained traction - spawning an independent non-profit and global inspiration for individuals, organizations and businesses alike to donate to their communities at large.
GIVING BACK TO THOSE WHO GIVE SO MUCH
For JVN, supporting organizations who work to make a difference each and every day - especially for those in our most vulnerable and marginalized communities, is of fundamental importance.
This year for Giving Tuesday, we will be donating 100% of gross profits earned through JVNHair.com on November 29th, 2022 to #YouAreEssential. A national crisis relief organization, #YouAreEssential works with grassroots organizations nationwide to provide funding, resources, and educational tools in order to transform the conditions that impact our most essential workers - in particular those working with our most at-risk communities.
Founded in 2020 by Ashlee Marie Preston and Revolve Impact, the organization also directs funds raised to “help combat food insecurity, housing instability, and barriers to access encountered by the elderly, disabled, immunocompromised, and the deeply marginalized.”
Preston explains, “#YouAreEssential was launched with the understanding that the most vulnerable people within our society are often doing the most vulnerable work."
